چکیده

Restoration quality of native prairie can be improved by reintroducing key organisms from the plant microbiome such as arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi. Here, we assess whether positive effects a inoculation observed during first growing season remained at end fourth season. In 2016, an experiment was initiated that assessed response restored tallgrass to density gradient fungi ranging 0 8,192 kg/ha. First year results indicated establishment benefited high but not low densities inocula, resulting in improvements abundance, richness, and diversity. To these persist later seasons, resampled restoration 2020 analyzed data similarly. Results pattern responses had persisted; after four seasons demonstrated total diversity reduced non-native abundance. Additionally, amendment were initially effective found reduce abundance season, suggesting amplified via plant-AM fungal feedback suppress weeds following introduction lesser amounts AM

Improvement of Cupressus atlantica Gaussen growth by inoculation with native arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi.

AIMS The study aimed to determine whether inoculation with native arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) fungi could improve survival and growth of seedlings in degraded soils of Morocco. METHODS AND RESULTS Soil samples were collected from the rhizosphere of Cupressus atlantica trees in the N'Fis valley (Haut Atlas, Morocco). AM spores were extracted from the soil, identified and this mixture of native...

Soil functional diversity and P solubilization from rock phosphate after inoculation with native or allochtonous arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi

The potential benefits of inoculation with AM (arbuscular mycorrhizal) fungi were investigated on Atlas Cypress (Cupressus atlantica G.), an endemic Cupressacea in Morocco. The parameters under study were (i) the growth of the plant, (ii) the functional diversity of soil microflora and (iii) the rock phosphate (RP) solubilizing activity. C. atlantica growth was measured after 12 months of cultu...

Selecting Native Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi to Promote Cassava Growth and Increase Yield under Field Conditions

The use of arbuscular mycorrhizal fungal (AMF) inoculation in sustainable agriculture is now widespread worldwide. Although the use of inoculants consisting of native AMF is highly recommended as an alternative to commercial ones, there is no strategy to allow the selection of efficient fungal species from natural communities. The objective of this study was (i) to select efficient native AMF s...

Can Arbuscular Mycorrhizal Fungi Reduce the Growth of Agricultural Weeds?

BACKGROUND Arbuscular mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) are known for their beneficial effects on plants. However, there is increasing evidence that some ruderal plants, including several agricultural weeds, respond negatively to AMF colonization. Here, we investigated the effect of AMF on the growth of individual weed species and on weed-crop interactions. METHODOLOGY/PRINCIPAL FINDINGS First, under c...

Glomalin Production and Infectivity of Arbuscular-Mycorrhizal Fungi in Response to Grassland Plant Diversity

Arbuscular-mycorrhizal fungi (AMF) are integral components of most terrestrial ecosystems, with complex interactions between plants and AMF. Our study assessed the impact of plant diversity of native grassland species on AMF infectivity and production of glomalin, an AMF hyphal glycoprotein that may play an important role in soil aggregation. The study was conducted over a 3-year period in fiel...
